HonoreesThe Vicksburg Homecoming Benevolence Club recently honored three City employees. Officer Eric Paymon of the Vicksburg Police Department was honored as Officer of the Year. Firefighter Derrick Holt was honored as Firefighter of the Year and Mrs Alberta Wheeler was honored for "Excellent Customer Service".

Because of their efforts to complete the Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, recognition was given by the State of Mississippi with the House Concurrent Resolution No. 126. Kudos to Vicksburg Police Department for their continued dedication to the City of Vicksburg.

escapee min On Wednesday morning, March 2, 2016, just before 6:00 a.m., Rafael Arnez McCloud, 34 years of age, escaped from the Warren County Jail. McCloud is 5’6 tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds. McCloud was charged in the rape and capital murder of Mrs. Sharen Wilson which occurred on June 28, 2015.

accreditation 2016 min On February 17, 2016, Chief Walter Armstrong received the Vicksburg Police Department’s first re-accreditation certificate from Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie, the Chairman of the Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission. This marked the culmination of three years of work by members of the agency, both sworn and civilian.
