What is a Youth Council?

youth council logoA Youth Council is a group of young citizens dedicated to helping their city prosper through volunteer services and direct communication with the city's leaders. With the aid of an adult mentor or Advisory Board the Youth Council provides another outlet for positive changes affecting the youth and the community as a whole.

What does a youth council do?

Youth councils respond to youth-related issues with community leaders.

• Develop leadership, communication, and citizenship skills
• Respond to youth-related issues with community leaders
• Develop and lead initiatives with support of adult mentors
• Promote youth engagement in government affairs
• Earn community service hours by contributing to the city through volunteer service projects
