| VPD donates Surplus Radar to Canton PD |
Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong met with Canton Assistant Police Chief Juan Cloy, on yesterday to pass on to their police department surplus radars that are no longer being used by the VPD. The radars are not compatible with the VPD ICOP systems and were given to the Canton Police department. |

| Vicksburg Officer Named "Top Cop" |
Members of the law enforcement and justice community honored their "TOP COP" Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Governor Phil Bryant, Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves along with area district attorneys and U.S. Attorney Greg Davis gathered to honor the top officers from around the State. Among the law enforcement officials nominated are officers from federal and state agencies as well as city and county law enforcement departments. |

| Accreditation Assessment Team Invites Public Comment |
On December 13, 14, 15, 2012, a team of assessors from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (MSLEAC) will be conducting an on-site assessment at the Vicksburg Police Department to ensure compliance with the Mississippi State Standards and The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Standards. Law enforcement agencies seeking to be accredited by MSLEAC and recognized by CALEA are required to comply with 123 professional standards in order to achieve state accredited and CALEA recognition status. |

| Parade Barracade Concerns |
The Vicksburg Police Department received a few concerns about the Christmas parade not having enough barricades. The Main Street program received complaints from downtown merchants that the use of full barricades hurt their business. Therefore, the VPD was asked to not place full barricades along the Washington Street area, but to only place them at intersections, in order to not interfere with downtown patrons.
