Mayor Paul Winfield and Alderman Michael Mayfield took time Monday to visit one of Vicksburg's oldest residents. Mr. Tom Lewis, a lifelong city resident, recently celebrated his 103rd birthday. When asked by Alderman Mayfield about the secret to his longivity, Mr. Lewis quickly said "hard work, I was never afraid of working hard".
Mr. Lewis retired from his yard cutting business at the age of 99. Mr. Lewis went on to say that he was most proud of the fact that he spent his entire life helping others.
Mayor Winfield presented Mr. Lewis with an official City lapel pin and praised him for his contribution to the people of Vicksburg.
