Hundreds Attend the Floodwall Marking PDF Print E-mail

Hundreds of citizens and officials gathered at the Vicksburg Waterfront  for the Floodwall Marking Ceremony. The City of Vicksburg, in conjunction with the US Army Corps of Engineers – Vicksburg District, hosted a commemoration ceremony for the 2011 historic Mississippi River flood. The Mississippi River crested in Vicksburg on May 19, 2011, setting a record at 57.1 feet. The official high water mark for the record setting flood of 2011 was displayed. Remarks were given by local, state and federal officials. Mayor Winfield concluded the ceremony with by reading a resolution issued by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
