The City of Vicksburg presents a "Fireworks Extravaganza" featuring Dialogue. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a welcome by Mayor George Flaggs.  The band will begin at 7:15 p.m. and perform until around 9:15 p.m.  The fireworks display will begin at 9:15 p.m. 

City offices will be closed July 4, 2014, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. 
Granicus TrainingThe City of Vicksburg has partnered with Granicus, Inc., the industry-leading government transparency solutions provider, to make their legislative management process more efficient, transparent, and cost effective. This project is a significant step in the City's budget reduction and open government initiatives.

Vicksburg's new solution will reduce the amount of staff time needed to introduce, manage, and track legislation through the legislative process. Now, tasks such as creating meeting agendas, routing approvals, and generating minute records will require less redundancy, paper, and printing costs.

Mayor George FlaggsIn February 2012, Vicksburg's credit rating was withdrawn by Moody's Investors Service due to the city's inability to produce annual financial audits in a timely manner. The city had fallen behind almost three (3) years in annual financial audits. The city now has rectified the problem, and has hired a Certified Public Accountant on staff to ensure that annual audits are completed in a timely manner.

alertDue to fire and smoke damage sustained as a result of a vehicle crash at the Police Department, City Court will be moved to the Warren County Circuit courtroom located in the Warren County Courthouse at 1009 Cherry Street. Court should start at 9:00 a.m. as scheduled.
The board meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, 2014, has be changed to Friday, June 20, 2014, at 10:00 am.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the City of Vicksburg recently announced that Vicksburg will provide job opportunities in transportation-related settings to individuals between the ages of 16 and 25 as part of the 2014 Urban Youth Corps Program.

MISSISSIPPI SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA POPS CONCERT MEMORIAL DAY Friends of Vicksburg National Military Park and Campaign is partnering with Four Seasons of the Arts, Vicksburg National Military Park and the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra to provide a Pops Concert at no charge on the hallowed grounds of Vicksburg National Military Park to commemorate Memorial Day Weekend.The concert will be Saturday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m. on the grounds of the park in front of the VNMP Visitor Center. Handicapped parking is available in the VNMP Visitor Center parking lot.

Alderman Willis Thompson receives Service AwardOn Saturday, May 31, 2104, Alderman Willis Thompson received the government and politics award for outstanding community service at the Annual Service Luncheon, sponsored by the Mu Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. The members of the local chapter publicly recognized Aldermen Thompson for his consistent and dedicated service to the City of Vicksburg and his constituents of the South Ward. Aldermen Thompson was acknowledge for giving his time, talents, and resources to others.

The Internal Revenue Service announced that the affected victims of the severe storms, tornadoes and floods on April 28, 2014 may qualify for tax relief.

alertAll Municipal Court cases scheduled for the week of June 9-13, 2014, will be heard in the County Courtroom on the 2nd floor of the Warren County Courthouse at 9:00 a.m. The Warren County Courthouse is located at 1009 Cherry Street.

ISA Tan Tec Press COnferenceGovernor Phil Bryant, local leaders and officials from ISA TanTec announced that the company is locating its first U.S. tannery operations in Vicksburg, Miss. The project, which will be known as Mississippi TanTec Leather, Inc., represents a $10.1 million corporate investment and will create 366 new jobs. 

The company will locate in the former CalsonicKansei factory in the Ceres Research & Industrial Interplex in eastern Warren County.
