The Riverfest Music and Arts Festival is April 25th and 26th! The 27th annual event features live music as well as free Saturday daytime activities.
The concerts are from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight, Friday and Saturday, and admission is $10. Saturday's daytime activities start at 8:00 a.m. at the Riverfest Arts & Crafts Show around City Hall. Other activities include live music, street performers, children's activities, food booths, and fabulous sidewalk sales with participating downtown merchants.
Entertainers set to perform this year are TK Soul, Colt Ford, Blackjack Billy, The Chill, Stagolee, Aron Shiers, Ralph Miller and Band Camp.
We are pleased to announce the Vicksburg Farmers Market 2014 Summer schedule. The market will open May 3, 2014, and run through July 26, 2014. Market hours are Saturday mornings 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Come support our market and sample some of the best fruits and vegetables in Mississippi.

The City of Vicksburg is hosting a Citywide Cleanup Day, one of the city's largest outdoor community service events.
The mission of this event is to remove unwanted trash and debris from city streets, parks, and neighborhoods. "Everyone loves a clean city, including our visitors," said Michael Mayfield, North Ward Alderman. The City of Vicksburg is making a commitment to the beautification of Vicksburg. Old Court House Flea Market
The Flea Market is April 26, 2014, and is located around the Old Court House Museum in Vicksburg. There will be over 150 booths of arts, crafts, antiques, plants, and local food. The market is from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., rain or shine. For more information, call 601-636-0741.
Registration for Vicksburg City Pool's popular American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program will be held Wednesday, May 14, thru Friday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the facility located at 900 Lee Street.
Offerings include three and four year old Preschool Aquatics, Beginning Adult Swimming, Intermediate Adult Swimming, and the respected Learn to Swim Levels classes for students age 5 and up.
The following information and guidelines regarding the pick-up of trash, rubbish, debris, and garbage will assist you in keeping our neighborhoods, sidewalks and curbs clean and clear.
Leaves must be placed in plastic bags (no more than 5 bags at one time) and placed curbside or in City issued garbage containers.
LIMBS (when cut by the homeowner): Limbs must be no longer than 4 feet and stacked no higher than 3 feet. They should be neatly stacked at the curbside.
Normal household garbage must be in City issued/approved garbage container.
Household goods for single family residences only, such as mattress and furniture, can be placed curbside for pick up on your second pick up day. For multi-residences, such as apartments, condos, etc., goods must be placed in the dumpster for pick up.
The following must be disposed of at the expense of the contractor, person responsible for its production, or the home/property owner.
Any materials resulting in construction, renovations, or demolition of structures.
Logs, tree stumps, limbs, or leaves resulting from commercial contracted operations.
Hazardous materials as regulated by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.

The City of Vicksburg Police Department will be administering the entry level police officer test Saturday, May 3, 2014. The test consists of a physical agility test followed by a written examination. All applicants must pass the agility test to be qualified to take the written exam.
Application packets will be available at the City of Vicksburg Human Resource Office, 1415 Walnut Street, Vicksburg, Mississippi, Monday through Friday, beginning at 8:00 a.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014, through Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 5:00 p.m. To receive a packet by mail, contact Human Resources at 601-631-3710, ext. 1. Even as crime rates continue to show significant decline in Vicksburg, the Vicksburg Police Department is doing everything in their power to provide the best possible protection to the citizens and visitors of Vicksburg. Inasmuch, we are proud to announce the addition of seven new officers to the Patrol division. The officers graduated from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer Training Academy (MLEOTA) in early April.
Chief Walter Armstrong, Deputy Chief's Bobby Stewart and Johnny Edwards, along with Lt. Sandra Williams met with the new MLEOTA graduates on their first day of work discussing shift assignments, expectations as a VPD officer, department policies and procedures.
