In February 2012, Vicksburg's credit rating was withdrawn by Moody's Investors Service due to the city's inability to produce annual financial audits in a timely manner. The city had fallen behind almost three (3) years in annual financial audits. The city now has rectified the problem and has hired a Certified Public Accountant on staff to ensure that annual audits are completed in a timely manner.
While running for the office of Mayor of the City of Vicksburg, one of my objectives was to restore the city's credit rating. The loss of our credit rating has had a negative impact on our city, and prevented us from saving money for our citizens.

City To Offer Texting Alert Service
In about two weeks the City of Vicksburg will unveil a new texting service to its citizens. The service allows city leaders to communicate faster and more effectively with the public and will be used to send out events, alerts, boil water notices and general information pertaining to city government and Vicksburg. Citizens can opt-in by texting keywords to the City texting service. The service will be available July 14, 2014.
"Texting is the most effective form of communication available today. According to recent Nielsen surveys, 98% of all text messages are opened. By utilizing texting as a communications medium, the city will be able to disseminate information faster and more efficient than ever before. With a push of a button, people will be able to receive information about emergencies, events, notices, and other important news that may be relevant to Vicksburg residents. The city is moving forward with technology."

City Government More Transparent With New Legislative Tools
The City of Vicksburg has partnered with Granicus, Inc., the industry-leading government transparency solutions provider, to make their legislative management process more efficient, transparent, and cost effective. This project is a significant step in the City's budget reduction and open government initiatives.
Vicksburg's new solution will reduce the amount of staff time needed to introduce, manage, and track legislation through the legislative process. Now, tasks such as creating meeting agendas, routing approvals, and generating minute records will require less redundancy, paper, and printing costs. At the same time, the system includes an online research center to make current and historic legislation including staff reports, minutes, and video easy to access.

Jeremy Davis and the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra perform more than jazz, more than a big band, they put on a show. In his own words, Jeremy describes the band as, "The Rat Pack meets The Dean Martin Variety Show with a touch of A Prairie Home Companion. It's plain to see that we love what we do, and we love our fans. We're not your grandfather's big band."
