Downtown Vicksburg's 14th Annual Mardi Gras Parade will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. in Downtown Vicksburg. All area clubs, churches, organizations, schools, and businesses are invited to take part in this community parade.
The parade begins at Washington and Belmont streets and will travel north on Washington Street to Jackson Street.

Mayor George Flaggs will hold a televised question and answer session on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Annex Board Room to discuss his first 1½ years in office as Mayor of the City of Vicksburg.
All constituents and members of the business community are invited to join him on this day as he discusses past accomplishments and future goals of this administration.
The City of Vicksburg has recently implemented a new texting service. This service allows City leaders to communicate faster and more effectively with their constituents. VPD Releases "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" Stats
The Vicksburg Police Department participated in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign which ran from December 20, 2014, through January 1, 2015. The Campaign focused on removing impaired drivers from our roadways. Although the focus was on drunk drivers, we did however bring attention to all violations. Chief Walter L. Armstrong believes that if one person's life can be saved by removing an impaired driver from the roadway, then the enforcement efforts by the Vicksburg Police Department are certainly worth it.
The Vicksburg Water Treatment Plant, under the direction of Mr. Pat McGuffie, operates 24 hours per day 365 days per year to provide residents with a quality water supply. Danczyk Appointed New Deputy Fire Chief
Craig Danczyk was appointed Deputy Chief of Fire Suppression December 1, 2014. He began his career with the Vicksburg Fire Department May 10, 1995, as a firefighter and was promoted through the ranks of lieutenant, captain and assistant chief during his 19.5 years with the department prior to his appointment as deputy chief.
He has logged more than 2,000 hours of training during his career, and is a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician, certified Mississippi State Fire Academy Smoke Diver, Certified Advanced Rescue Specialist, Fire Service Instructor, and a Fire And Life Safety Educator. He is a graduate of Warren Central High School and Hinds Community College.
