 The Parks and Recreation Department is charged with providing quality recreational facilities to the citizens of Vicksburg. We currently have 13 full-time employees nine of which are maintenance workers and over 100 part-time. We maintain 15 playgrounds, 8 baseball fields, 2 youth softball fields, 3 adult softball fields, 1 Olympic pool and 10 tennis courts.
Some of our activities include baseball (spring and fall), softball, basketball, arts programs, volleyball, swimming, flag football, lifeguard certification, umpire clinics and playground activities.
Our busiest times of the year are spring and summer. During these times we design leagues and schedules for thousands of Vicksburg-Warren residents. We schedule umpires and scorekeepers and are generally responsible for the smooth operation of all our leagues.

Tennis In The Park - Monday, March 01, 2010

"Needed" Adult and Youth Baseball / Softball Umpires and Score Keepers - Thursday, February 04, 2010
Anyone interested in being a Baseball or Softball Umpire needs to come by the Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department on 100 Army-Navy Drive to pick up an application. Score Keepers are also needed for all leagues. It is very important that we have new umpires and score keepers to fill ranks for league and tournament play. High school Baseball & Softball
High school Baseball and Softball teams kick off their seasons beginning at the end of February. Vicksburg Gator baseball begins their home schedule March 2nd vs. Yazoo City, 5:00pm/7:00pm. The Vicksburg Lady Gators begin their season February 27th in Clinton. Their first home game will be March 2nd, vs. Greenville Wesson at 4:30pm. St. Aloysius Boys baseball team gets started on February 20th at the Lake Pre-Season Jamboree. Their first home game at Bazinsky Park will be February 27th vs. Scott Central. The St. Aloysius girls softball team get started February 27th at Salem for 2 classic games. The Lady flashes play their first home game of the season at Bazinsky softball fields March 5th vs. Riverside at 5:30pm.

Adult Softball
Adult Men's and Women's Softball will begin registration for the upcoming season starting March 1, 2010 Through April 9, 2010. All registration packets will be available for pick up on March 1st. Adult Basketball
Adult Men's and Women's Basketball programs have begun their season's. The adult men play on Monday's and Tuesday nights, games starting at 6:30pm, 7:30pm, and 8:30pm. The Ladies league plays on Thursday night, 6:30pm and 7:30pm. All games are played at our Jackson Street Community Center, 923 Walnut Street.
